How to Measure Your Window for Precision-Cut Film

To ensure your Sensaglass™ precision-cut window film fits perfectly, it is important to measure your glass correctly.

Please follow the steps below carefully.

Before You Start

What You Will Need

  • Measuring tape (metal recommended)
  • Notepad or phone to record sizes
  • Pen or pencil
  • Step ladder (if required)
  • A second person for large windows

Important Measuring Advice

  • Measure the glass only — not the frame
  • Measure in millimetres (mm)
  • Always measure width first, then height
  • Measure each window individually
  • Do not assume all windows are the same size
  • Double check all measurements before ordering

Step-by-Step Measuring Instructions

Step 1 – Identify the Glass Area

Look closely at your window and locate the visible glass panel.

You must measure edge of glass to edge of glass, not including:

  • Rubber seals
  • Window frames
  • Beading

This ensures your film will fit correctly.

Step 2 – Measure the Width

Place your measuring tape across the widest part of the glass, from the left edge of the glass to the right edge of the glass.

Keep the tape straight and level.

Write down the measurement in millimetres.

Example: 865 mm

Step 3 – Measure the Height

Next, measure from the top edge of the glass to the bottom edge of the glass.

Again, ensure the tape is straight.

Record the measurement in millimetres.

Example: 1240 mm

Step 4 – Measure Again to Confirm

For accuracy, we strongly recommend measuring:

  • Width twice
  • Height twice

If measurements differ, use the smaller size.

This helps ensure the film will fit neatly inside the glass area.

Step 5 – Measuring Multiple Windows

If you are ordering film for several windows:

  • Measure each window separately
  • Label each measurement clearly
  • Do not assume sizes are identical

Example:

Kitchen Window – 720 mm x 1025 mm
Bedroom Window – 680 mm x 990 mm

Step 6 – Measuring Large or High Windows

For large windows, skylights or conservatory glass:

  • Use a stable step ladder
  • Have another person assist
  • Measure carefully to avoid guessing

Accuracy is essential for a professional result.
